The usual causes of osteoporosis are lack of exercise, an overly acidic diet, an imbalance in hormone functions, and poor calcium absorption....
The following are eating recommendations to address osteoporosis: Start incorporating more calcium-rich foods into your diet, in the form of leafy green vegetables and whole grains, especially oatmeal, millet, and the various types of brown rice. Also high in calcium are goat's milk and goat cheeses, along with soy milk and rice milk. All fruits and vegetables have a certain amount of calcium in them, including raisins, which are usually only known for their high iron content..... At least 60% of the diet should be fruits and vegetables, the rest consisting of grains, goat's dairy, fish, nuts, seeds, and hormone-free meats....
Foods to avoid are those that leech calcium from the bones. These include cow's dairy products, tomato products--especially cooked ones like pasta sauce--soft drinks of all kinds, coffee, and black tea--though green tea is acceptable.....
